Grenada Vacation Fun Facts
Grenada Vacation Rentals and Lodging
Grenada is nicknamed "The Spice Isle" because of the many different spices that are exported daily from the island. You can find fresh nutmeg, coffee, citrus fruits, ginger, and cinnamon inside of the tiny Caribbean island. A Grenada vacation resembles the various spices that it exports – your Grenada vacation can be spicy, sweet, or mild. Whatever kind of Caribbean vacation you are craving, you can find it in Grenada! Grenada is not one island, but a group of islands in the Caribbean Sea. The three largest islands are Grenada, Carriacou, and Petit Martinique. On top of those three islands, there are countless smaller islands scattered about the warm, ocean waters. What this means for your Grenada vacation is plenty of locations and opportunities to have the Caribbean island vacation of your dreams. Start out with a visit to the Gouyave Nutmeg Factory. This attraction is a must-see, especially since 20% of the world’s nutmeg comes from Grenada! At this factory, you can see firsthand why countries from all over the world want their nutmeg (and many other spices) shipped directly from Grenada. Next, be sure and visit the Seven Sisters Waterfalls. These falls are near the Grand Etang Nature Reserve in St. Andrew and consist of seven separate waterfalls. For those with a little adventurous spirit, you can slide down the falls into the pools below! When you’re done slipping and sliding, take a peek inside the nearby Grand Etang Nature Reserve and check out the famous crater lake there. The interior of Grenada is very mountainous, the highest point being Mount St. Catherine at 2,756 feet. These mountains provide a nice, shady spot to spend the day hiking and seeing the various waterfalls throughout the island. But for a glimpse of what Grenada is truly known for (aside from the delicious spices) you need to head for one thing in particular – the beach! Perhaps the most famous beach in Grenada is Grand Anse Beach in St. George’s. This beautiful expanse of coastline is often considered one of the world’s best. In fact, it’s often featured on various countdowns of the world’s top beaches! This beach is also a tourist hotspot, with restaurants, shops, and dive centers all located nearby. A Grenada vacation is pretty much a vacation in paradise – between the warm Caribbean waters, the shimmering white sands, and the tempting aroma of the many spices, all of your senses will be satisfied during your Grenada vacation. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
